In December I hosted a small party at home for my now 4 years old daughter. I was very anxious at first to host the party at home. My first choice would have been to host it at a venue, but we decided to invite only a small number of children this time, so home was the best choice.
At the bottom of the article I included information on where I purchased the items for the birthday party.
The objectives for the party were:
1. To get some entertainment for the kids
2. To get an amazing cake, that would impress
3. To keep the decorations to a minimum
My daughter requested to have Elsa from Frozen as the theme for her birthday party, which was perfect given that she’s a winter baby.
I had already bought a themed advent calendar, which set the mood.
My husband an amazing 3D birthday card with Elsa made out of carton, which we kept and hang on the wall in her bedroom.
To decorate the room I used some simple blue and white balloons, some party twirls and fans to hang and of course, we bough helium balloons featuring Elsa and Anna.
The table decorations were very simple. A white paper table cloth I bought at the local coop was perfect. I also bought from the coop some paper cups and plates and some Elsa confetti. That was it!
I had found plenty of Frozen birthday party kits, which I didn’t like and felt that they were over the top for us. Basically, everything from the paper table cloth to cups and plates would have been with Elsa and Anna’s faces on them. That was too much for me, so I decided to go for something more simple and chose neutral items that were in line with the colour theme.
The cake was unbelievable! It was totally worth it to order it from a professional. A local cake artist made it for me for 150fr and it was made for 15 people. My husband and I had a slice every evening for the next 5 days.
In terms of snacks, I served fruit and healthy crackers to the children, whereas I made some pizza and pitta bread for the adults.
I also organised a lovely lady clown, who performed for over an hour. The children had so much fun. It also kept them busy and engaged and together with the cake it really made the day special for everyone.
